Pray for Our Soon To Be Ordained Priests!

Pray for Our Soon To Be Ordained Priests!

Please remember to pray for Deacons Nicholas Blank, Edouard Guilloux, Sean Koehr and Will Nyce, who will be ordained to the priesthood this Saturday, June 8, at the Cathedral of St Thomas More in Arlington by Bishop Burbidge.  Deacon Koehr’s first priestly assignment will be here at St Mary!

A Prayer for Priests
By St. Therese of Lisieux

O Jesus, eternal Priest,
keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart,
where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands,
which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips,
daily purpled with your Precious Blood.

Keep pure and unearthly their hearts,
sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.

Let Your holy love surround them and
shield them from the world’s contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit and
may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown.

Amen.

Dear Folks,
Last week it was announced that Fr. Colin will be moving to Leesburg at the end of the month! It seems that Bishop Burbidge loves our parish so much that he trusts us to be a welcoming nest for newly hatched priests! Now it is time for Fr. Colin to fly the nest and head up north.
Thank you Fr. Colin for the laughs and fraternity that we have shared in the rectory of St. Mary during the past three years. Audiobook recommendations, business podcasts, macro-nutrient theory of dietary needs, and chicken smoothies have all kept the priest entertained and informed. You will be missed!
For a farewell reception, this year we are going to try something new. We will have a reception for him on Monday June 24th, from 5 to 8pm in the PLC. This will mean that we won’t face the pressures of Mass traffic! More details will be forthcoming. Additionally, you will be able to bid adieu to Fr. Colin at the Masses on the weekend of June 22nd & 23rd.
Speaking of farewells, a reminder about next Sunday’s reception for the Oblate Sisters is at Holy Cross Academy from 2 to 4 pm. Please come and express your gratitude for their generous service!
Finally, for those of you reading this in church, I hope we see you at the picnic today! And if you are at the 7 pm, I hope you had an awesome day with your parish family.
