Confirmation Classes for Adults

Are you an adult who was never confirmed? We are hosting classes for you! Receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit in a profound way – THIS Pentecost! Attend a four- class series taught by Fr. Sina, beginning Thursday, April 29th 7pm-8pm and continuing May 6, 13, 20. Classes are being held at the Courtyard Meeting Room. To register, contact Deacon Alberto at deaconalberto1@gmail.com before April 28th. The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Sunday, May 23 at 7pm Mass~ The Feast of Pentecost.

What adults are eligible for confirmation?

Those adults who:

• are baptized into the Roman Catholic church (those baptized in another Christian church are eligible for confirmation through the Rite of Reception into the Full Communion of the Catholic Church, and are not the subject of these guidelines)

• have celebrated their First Communion

• are not presently barred from the sacraments (most commonly for reasons relating to an irregular marriage situation)

• are capable of renewing their baptismal promises

Generally, this guideline refers to persons who are baptized Catholics who have received some catechesis within the Catholic Christian community. These are active adult Catholics who for some reason did not receive Confirmation at the usual age. Proof of their baptism comes in the form of a copy of their baptismal certificate obtained from their parish of baptism.

Dear Folks,

A Blessed Easter Season to you! In the risen Christ, all things are possible. Did you notice the picture on the cover from the Easter Vigil at the Expo Center?

Ahhhh…. St Mary Immaculate of the Expo Center. This year we celebrated the whole Triduum at the Expo Center. It was truly wonderful to see the great turnout! At every liturgy we had more people in attendance than we could have accommodated in the church even on a normal year!! Yep, our biggest Triduum ever! What a joy and sign of hope for our parish family!

Chris Lanzarone led the effort to set up the Holy Week liturgies and the Expo Center Masses. He got a few scant hours of sleep all week to be there for everything and to cover details that we all just think happen automatically. Thank you to Chris and his team of volunteers!

A heartfelt thanks and prayers for all who helped to make this Easter a glorious celebration of our faith.
Let me begin with the Music: WOW!! David Uschold, Malinda Jones, all of the musicians, cantors, and choirs all crushed it! It was breathtaking to hear the Expo Center filled with the glorious praise of God in song! To our ushers and greeters- thank you!

Congratulations to our newly baptized and confirmed Catholics! Their enthusiasm gives us a spiritual vitamin shot. Thanks to Fr. Sina, and the RCIA team!

Did you notice the banners changing each day of the Triduum and all the flowers? Thanks to those who worked so hard with all of those amazing decorations and those who decorated our church and Holy Cross Academy.

This year, more parishioners than ever have written or called me to express their awe and gratitude for how our celebrations were done. Please take a moment all to just send a prayer of thanksgiving to our Lord!

Our parish comes alive when you respond to Christ’s invitation to share in his life and service. May God grant you the heavenly reward that you desire and deserve.

There is a new scam email going around claiming to be from Fr Mosimann asking for money for COVID patients. That is completely fake. Please ignore it or mark it as spam. Father will never ask for money in emails.

Dear Folks,

A Holy and Blessed Easter to you and all of your loved ones! As we complete the octave of Easter with the Feast of Divine Mercy! This year there will devotions in honor of Divine Mercy after the 10:30am Mass at HCA, and after the 2:30pm Mass in the church! So double the opportunity to pray these devotions!

I was recently mulling over two things: a priest saying, ‘I wish we could see the face of Jesus,’ and our Confirmation candidates’ letters saying, ‘I want to
get closer to God.’ Aren’t these really the same thing? Everyone of us longs to see Him, know Him, and love Him. Yet we do so by faith, hope, and charity. People may think that faith is easy for priests. It isn’t easy for anybody.

Our longing and searching and yearning to be closer to God and see His face it itself a work of grace. It is love stirring us to greater faith and hope. And the answer is that we can’t desire to be closer unless He is already with in us. We can’t long to see His face unless has already given us a glimpse.

Consider Jesus’ answer to Phillip who asked to see the Father, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”
Or consider this famous quote from St. Augustine, “Late have I loved you, beauty so old and so new: late have I loved you. And see, you were within and I was in the external world and sought you there, and in my unlovely state I plunged into those lovely created things which you made. You were with me, and I was not with you.”

We long to see the face of God and to be close to Him, only because He is already within us and inviting us to see Him and know how close He already is.

With Saint Faustina, on this glorious Feast of Divine Mercy, hear Him whisper in your soul how much He loves you and desires you to have the fullness of joy.
