ALL CHRISTMAS MASSES AT FREDERICKSBURG EXPO CENTER

ALL CHRISTMAS MASSES AT FREDERICKSBURG EXPO CENTER

In order to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend Christmas Mass, St Mary will celebrate all our Christmas Masses at the Fredericksburg Expo Center.  In keeping with the governor’s orders for churches, there will be a maximum limit of 1000 people per Mass.  Social distancing will be maintained, and the Expo Center cleaned and aired out after every Mass, so it will be cold (bring a coat and gloves!).  Masks will be required to be worn inside the Expo center.  The Expo Center’s address is 2371 Carl D. Silver Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.  The Mass schedule is as follows:

Advent and Christmas 2020

From Our Pastor

From Our Pastor

Dear Folks,

I will share with you one of my favorite Advent books, The Reed of God by Caryl Houselander. She beautifully builds the image of the Blessed Mother as a reed: empty and open to becoming an instrument of God. How do we perceive emptiness? The virginity of the BVM is not barren emptiness, but a beautiful receptivity to the Lord. As we are grateful for the abundance of God’s blessings, and let us move forward with an eye to avoiding the excesses of our culture by focussing on the life giving, virginal, receptivity of the Blessed Mother. The more generously we can imitate her this Advent, the more fully we can help bring Jesus into the world this Christmas.

Expo Center 2020 Christmas! And folks, just a heads up that this week we signed a contract to use the Expo Center for all Christmas Masses! In order to allow as many folks to safely and confidently come to Mass for this pandemic-year Christmas, we will be celebrating our Christmas Masses in the Expo Center! This bulletin shares the Mass schedule. Look in future bulletins for more details!

pax et bonum,

Fr. John Mosimann

PARISH CHRISTMAS COLLECTION FOR SPECIAL CHARITIES DECEMBER 5 & DECEMBER 6

PARISH CHRISTMAS COLLECTION FOR SPECIAL CHARITIES DECEMBER 5 & DECEMBER 6

As many of you know, every year at Christmas we take up a special collection for charity.  The collection this year will be taken up on December 5 and December 6 for the following special charities:

The Holy Land Christians Society for the benefit of the Creche Orphanage in Bethlehem in the Holy Land. The orphanage, managed by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, has a long history in Bethlehem and has welcomed orphans since its foundation in the late 19th century. The Crèche provides services of high quality for children and people of the Palestinian Authority Area and continues to function thanks to the support of its benefactors.

The continued completion of converting a conference room at Holy Cross Academy into a new Chapel for the students, faculty and staff.

Micah Ministries receives much parish support for all its good works for the poor and homeless in  the Fredericksburg area. Our parish is one of nine governing Churches which financially support Micah through annual dues, and financial and volunteer support for their many ministries, including the Community Dinners and cold night shelter. This collection will assist the parish in continuing to provide much needed financial support to Micah.

We know you will be generous, as you have always been, and we thank you for sharing the joy of this holy season with those who are less fortunate.

Another Scam Email

Another Scam Email

There is another scam email that looks like it was sent by Fr. Mosimann asking for a favor, and then asking for money or gift cards.  Once again, this is a scam and the parish will never send out vague emails asking for money or gift cards.
