Dear Folks,
A blessed Feast of the Epiphany to you! Unless your family is of Eastern European descent, this feast may not be on your radar with the same level of importance as Christmas and Mary Mother of God (Jan 1st). But the word epiphany means ‘manifestation’ whereby the Lord God makes Himself known to us and His glory is made visible! Some families exchange their gifts today, and not on Christmas! I don’t know that I could have waited, but it is a venerable tradition that connects gift giving to the 3 wise men!
However, which is more important: what God gives us? or what we give Him? Hence I take consolation in the gift exchange being connected to God’s giving us His only Son! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Blessed Epiphany!
Did Jesus love tacos?
You may say that is a ‘clown question,’ but as a young boy, I am sure Jesus had favorite foods! I once read of
a little boy who asked Jesus if he liked bananas when He was little. Jesus answered, “there were no bananas where I lived, when I live, but since you love them and I am in you: yes, I love bananas now!” By that simple logic, yes, Jesus loves tacos, because I love them and He is in me!
Taco Celebration!! To celebrate the success of our Capital Campaign, I am inviting you to come by next Saturday for a free taco lunch: 11 am to 3 pm! All families are welcome, stop by when you can during that time, and enjoy tacos with me in celebration of all the hard work we have done to benefit the school and parish!
We are not going to turn anyone away, but we also don’t want to run out of tacos, so weare asking for RSVPs! Please call or email the parish office by Thursday to RSVP and let us know how hungry you are!!

Religious Freedom Rally: A word of thanks for the Knights of Columbus who help organize a rally every year to remember that religious freedom movement in our country was born here in Fredericksburg! Bravo! This year’s rally is Sunday January 14th, with more info in the bulletin here.

Dear Folks,
The Feast of the Holy Family falls between Christmas and New Years, and is a good reminder that family life is such an amazing blessing and mystery. I have observed how life has slowed down for my sisters and nieces as their lives now really revolve around their newborns. Ok, slowed down isn’t the best word, as any parent can attest, but many of the things that they would otherwise be doing (social visits, extended family gatherings) just give way to the singular importance of caring for a new child. My sisters have dropped everything to be with their new grandchildren.
I hope you have enjoyed some slow down time with your family!
Also, tomorrow is the Feast of Mary Mother of God! We will have our usual Sunday morning lineup of Masses, ending with the Spanish Mass. Thus no evening Masses on the 1st, and hope the priests and parishioners will watch football!
Finally, we are closing out our memorial brick program for the “Loaves and Fishes” wall in the Holy Cross Academy Expansion today (December 31st). If you drop the form in the basket or in the office the next few days, we can make it work. Thanks to all who have made our Capital Campaign so successful!!
