Phone Lines at Parish office Down Until Wednesday, no 6:30am Mass Monday

Due to Thursday’s storm, the phone lines at the parish are currently down and cannot be repaired until Wednesday.  We were able to forward our calls to our answering service, so emergency calls to our priests will be unaffected and function like normal.  All other calls will be emailed in to us by our answering service until the phone system is able to be repaired.

There will be no 6:30am Mass or Adoration on Monday May 27, Memorial Day.

From Our Pastor

Dear Folks:

It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Stephen Fry will serve as our next principal at Holy Cross Academy effective July 1, 2019. Dr. Fry’s impressive background includes, teaching, serving as Head of Middle School and most recently as principal for the past five years. He comes to us from Camp Hill, PA.

Our search for a new principal included interviews conducted by our Search Committee of several accomplished candidates. Dr. Fry was unquestionably the individual best qualified to serve as principal of Holy Cross Academy, and stood head and shoulders above the other candidates. He has the experience and skills to lead our school as we continue the tradition of providing an excellent Catholic education befitting our Blue Ribbon School.
Dr. Fry’s background as a middle school teacher, teaching history, math, robotics and public speaking along with his ability for strategic planning, enhancing and implementing new programs including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and wellness programs in addition to new security measures and physical plant improvements, impressed our committee. His enthusiasm for education and love of his Catholic faith along with various leadership roles as coach and mentor are gifts that he will share with our school community.

A graduate of Hiram College, Hiram OH (BS History with Social Studies Certification), Dr. Fry continued his studies and earned a Masters of Education (Educational Administration) from The University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC and an Educational Doctorate (Educational Leadership and Policy) from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN.

Dr. Fry happily shares that he is blessed by his marriage to Mindi and the proud father of three children, Troy (8), Helena (11), and Xander (14). His family visited Holy Cross Academy this past Friday, May 24th and Dr. Fry was given the opportunity to meet faculty and staff. An informal meet and greet was held on Saturday morning after the 9am Mass at St. Mary’s, for HCA parents. A more formal reception is planned for August.

I am convinced that, in selecting Dr. Stephen Fry as our next principal, we have chosen the person best qualified to lead Holy Cross Academy for the next several years. I hope you will join me in welcoming him upon his arrival! May our Lord continue to bless Holy Cross Academy and our parish family.
Pax,

Fr. John Mosimann
Pastor

Diocese of Arlington Clergy Appointments 2019

Diocese of Arlington Clergy Appointments 2019

Today the Diocese of Arlington announced clergy appointments for 2019.  Unfortunately, St Mary’s own Fr. Colin Davis has been transferred to be the new parochial vicar St John the Apostle in Leesburg. In his place, we have been assigned soon to be ordained to the priesthood Rev. Mr. Sean T. Koehr.

Fr. Mosimann, the clergy, staff, and parishioners of St Mary are very grateful to Fr. Colin for 3 years of dedicated and loving service to our parish, and assure him of our continued prayers and support as he begins his new assignment.  More information on a farewell for Fr. Colin will be announced forthcoming.
