From Our Pastor

Dear Folks,
What happens when we go to the hospital and we want communion?  For all of my priesthood, Hospital records would include the fact that the patient is Catholic and we could get a list of the Catholic patients.  Recently, Mary Washington Hospital has changed its computer systems.  The result of this is that they are “using this opportunity to reevaluate how we gather and disseminate patient religious information.”  The exact reevaluation process is unclear, however they suggest that you contact your parish before scheduled hospitalizations or use the Chaplain’s office to be a liaison between patients and churches.
What does this mean??  It is going to be much harder for us to find out that you are in the hospital, at least for the time-being.
Please call or email our parish offices if you know someone in the hospital.  Emails can be directed to Chris with this address:  clanzarone@stmaryfred.org
With the coordinated effort of the parish staff and Extraordinary Ministers, we will do our best to have a current list of folks who want to receive communion while in the hospital.  That you for your patience.
pax,
fr mosimann
