From Our Pastor

Dear Folks,

First: a special request for prayers:  Sister Susan Louise Eder, OSFS, was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in July.  It was caught in the early stages.  Sister will have surgery on this coming Wednesday (September 4) and the Noon Mass will be offered for her wellbeing.
Please keep Sister in your prayers.  Specifically, Sister has asked you to include the prayer to Blessed Father Louis Brisson.  We have included this prayer below my note.
Second: a reminder of the annual Ice Cream Social and Cake Walk at Holy Cross Academy in 2 weeks to celebrate our school feast day!  Start planning your masterwork cakes, get ready for great fun, and come celebrate with your parish and school family.
Third: Happy and Blessed Labor day to you.   Remember that when you work and study, you are using the gifts that God has given you.  He doesn’t give gifts without a purpose.  Work has inherent dignity, that is often lost on modern man. We store up for ourselves the fruit of our labor in order to be able to provide for the future and live in a dignified manner.  Moreover, work finds it ultimate reference when directed to God and we participate in the mystery of building up civilization in love and peace.  Work took on an even greater dignity in the incarnation: God himself labored and earned His food by the sweat of his brow.  I pray that you find great peace in your labors, that you not be enslaved by the demands of the modern workweek, and that work always be prioritized behind your faith and family.  Our worth is not determined by our job titles, but by our love.

Prayer for the Canonization of Blessed Louis Brisson

God, Father of tenderness and mercy, we thank you for having given us in Blessed Louis Brisson a priest of lively faith and inventive charity. Empowered by your Spirit he walked in the footsteps of Christ, announcing to the poor and those struggling on the road of life that you love them.  Come to our aid and grant by his prayer the favors we need, particularly the cure of Sr. Susan Louise’s cancer.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.  Amen

Blessed Louis Brisson, obtain this cure for us.
