Dear Folks,
As I write this it is Hot, Hot, Hot….  I think the last place I would want to be today is the beach.  God Bless folks who are at the beach in this heat.  Which brings to mind vacations and for me vacations mean a chance to relax and take some pictures!  Thus I want to encourage you to take lots of photos and get ready for the second ever St. Mary IC Photography Contest.  Prizes, fame and prayers go to the winners.  The deadline for submission of photos will this fall sometime so get clicking!
Why is our faith so important?  Because God is Love and we can not know / possess / or experience any Love apart from Him. Because He is love I need to love Him and love all that He loves.  Our faith contains these great truths without admixture of error: God reveals to us His very self, and how to live in that love.  Let him conduct the symphony of your life.  Ask Him what he wants you to do, do it and you will be happier than you ever imagined.  Here and in the world to come.  Amen.
One great sadness is that folks sometimes take a vacation from Sunday Masses for the summer (and yes, I know I am writing to the folks who are at Mass)!  In seminary, we used to say, “There is no vacation from your vocation.”  We don’t take vacations from our marriages or families.  May the relationships of love, spouses, children, brothers/sisters in Christ be the relationships that energize and restore you because they are mere foretastes of the union with God and neighbor in heaven that we are made for. That is the union that is sacramentally accomplished in every Holy Mass!
