From Our Pastor
Dear Folks,
What a week: snow, trees, cars on I-95, and power outages. If you are reading this, then you got the email or the digital version of our bulletin. With all the of closures this week, getting a print bulletin in time for the weekend was not possible.
When I read of folks stranded on I-95, fortunately it was stories of people who live near 95 bringing blankets and food to stranded motorists. That is something I can picture in a serious traffic mess! Many in our parish are still without power 3 days after the storm ended, but the folks that I ask have all found showers and heat with neighbors and fellow parishioners (ok, and a Resident Inn or two)!
10+ years ago then Pope Benedict met with Italian ski instructors. He praised the ski instructors saying, “Your engagement as
‘ski masters’ helps to boost certain capacities, for example steadfastness in pursing aims, respect for the rules, tenacity in confronting and surmounting difficulties.” I saved that quote
to use in the bulletin one day, and so today it is. Steadfastness, tenacity, and overcoming difficulties: sounds like a description of graces we have all had to rely on this week.
I pray that the rest of 2022 will be a little more gentle on us than this first week and that your power be turned back on with thanksgiving for warm showers.
pax et bonum,
Father John Mosimann
